Essex LPC has the responsibility to represent all pharmacy contractors within its boundary in all dealings with other healthcare stakeholders to ensure the satisfactory provision of quality community pharmacy services as an integral part of the primary healthcare team and support for the management of change within that team. Geographically the Committee covers the entire area within the Essex Strategic Health Authority. Within this area there are currently twelve primary care trusts and one care trust, responsible for commissioning local health services, providing primary and community health services, improving health and reducing inequalities in health.
The committee has established Local Pharmacy Groups at PCT level. These are led by a member of the LPC and involve local contractors in initiatives driven jointly by the LPC, the PCTs and other commissioning stakeholders The LPC can be contacted at:
