South West Essex Joint Formulary
This edition of the Local Drug Formulary has been produced under the guidance of the South West Essex Medicines Management Committee and is intended to promote safe and effective prescribing in both primary and secondary care. Good communication about prescribing decisions is vitally important when a patient moves between primary and secondary care, and this will be facilitated by a common basis for drug selection as outlined in the formulary. This formulary also gives guidance on formal shared care arrangements where appropriate.
The Local Drug Formulary is not intended to replace the BNF, which gives more detailed information on doses, indications, adverse reactions and contraindictions. Further detailed information is also available in the following documents, which are distributed separately in South West Essex:-
SEPT Formulary and Prescribing Guidelines
South Essex Palliative Care Formmulary
